Good Stuff On Testing
I suppose it's no secret that I HATE high stakes standardized testing. I believe that they force teachers to teach to the middle and force students to learn to the middle. They encourage staying in the box and out of real thinking. If you can ace the test you're fine no matter your ability to think or consider the things that matter. Basically everything that is in this little gem that I picked up via No NCLB. Good suff man good stuff.

Thanks for the link to this. I read it when it was published and meant to save a copy, but didn't. Now I can. I wanted to show it to some colleagues. Colman McCarthy is one of my personal living heroes. A great teacher and devout pacifist. I highly recommend his books for teachers, esp. "I'd Rather Teach Peace."
Thanks for the info I had no idea. I really just dug the comment. I'll buy the book based on the title alone.
