Why I'm sleeping tonight

Despite my general lack of hard core political posting here, I am a political junkie. I have participated in campaigns since I was knee high to a grasshopper. My father and my grandmother (in her 80s) ran for office when I was both wee and not-so-wee. I was allowed to stay up late to watch the returns every time there was an election and I NEVER miss a vote. Tonight I go to sleep before all of the returns are in and plan to wake up and read about it (by "it" I mean the outright theiving of the election in the final hour by the current cartel in charge) in the morning.
WHY?
As I sat down to once again watch the returns it hit me that I don't need to hear the same spew that has been coming out of the mouths of those who "know" for the last month. I will listen to the post game intently and I will discuss the outcome at length with family, friends and colleagues as we plan our escape to... wherever democracy is still alive, but tonight I forgo the anxiety and got to sleep so that I might be an effective teacher tomorrow.

Goodnight Folks.

[not responsible for the content of any 3am "couldn't take the pangs of 'politics withdrawal'" posts that might pop up because I am oh. so. weak.]

With more and more voters using absentee ballots, I fear for election night parties - i mean, since no one knows for sure when all the ballots will be counted, you don't know exactly when to cut the balloons loose... so, sleep well my friend.

It's like waiting for a baby. I imagine. One that you can't induce.

So. Like. There have been some, like, suprising developments in the, like, last 20 minutes. Um, I think, it might like, be over? Wait it's only wednesday, how the hell is that possible?
