Had W taken the advice of the brain trust that is the hallway in which I teach he could have come out a Republican hero instead of…well, himself. About a month or more ago he could have cleaned out his cabinet of its expired goods. Namely Rummy, Rove and friends and pressure the dead weight out of the Senate and House while projecting himself as someone who was in charge of the Whitehouse, the war and the Grand Old Party. He could have come off like a real Commander In Chief ready to make drastic changes in the way the American government did things. He could have been seen as the only oversight needed in an obviously corrupt and depraved system. Politically he could have risen above the filth that has become the Republican lead government and taken a few clean powerful allies with him. Instead he was crushed under the weight of a one dimensional, profiteering, attackattacattack, protect the loyal at all costs even if it means I take this presidency, the party, the military and this nation’s international reputation down with me, policy that will take years for us to recover from Dems in office or not.
But, thank goodness that he doesn’t listen to my hallway, or have the ability to do his job without his handlers meeting the accommodations listed on his IEP (bad education joke). If he did I may not have had the pleasure of watching the Grand Old Party scramble to throw the first of the bled dry sacrifices on the pyre of “political capital” set aflame the moment that lovely phrase was turned by the Decider himself.
Ok, I might be able to put political comments to bed for another couple of weeks until
