A couple of posts on testing out there in the edu-sphere have worked there way into my real world conversations of late. One from Jim Horn at Schools Matter (article for this one here) and the other by Joe at Shut Up and Teach go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Which group of kids will get more out of their educational experience? Those who may never pass a mandated state test but learn the value of education and community through service learning or those who are inundated with high pressure test “pep rallies” with no connection to the real world?
Joe is teaching the ones that got me into PUBLIC education. Their options are limited and the education they receive could be all that they get and ONLY A FREE public education can prepare them for the world.
