Return and Reflection

We have officially returned from our Arizona Odyssey. I had intended to blog a bit while out in the sunny west but it turns out the ‘Rents are not “connected” they’re like, old and stuff. We also had a hard time finding a place to connect that didn’t charge to to do so, a new thing for those of us used to a city with numerous free wireless connections. Since we really had no connection to the web I was left alone with my thoughts, here are some edited highlights, such as they are.

Reflections on the trip:
We rang in my 33rd year on the way out and the Christian world’s 2006th on the return trip, both while huddled on floor of the “bathroom nook” out of sight and sound of the daughter who was having a hard time sleeping in the hotel room. In my mind neither could have been better.

Seeing the fam for Christmas for the first time in two years was a bit odd…I’ll leave it at that.

I got to point and laugh at my Father and Sister who officially returned to school on the official holiday (Monday) for the New Year. That’s what they get for getting out a week before me.

Our daughter travels better than we do.

If I hear one more electronically produced “Elmo Loves You!” squawked in my ear I will rip out my eardrums by the roots! (do they have roots?)

Direction of the blog:
I figure I will continue to keep my topics broad. I don’t genuinely care about how many people read the damn thing I just enjoy writing about stuff I find interesting. I will however, focus more on my experience as a teacher in a North American Public High School. I may attempt to look at the rights of students in public schools more closely. “Wal-Mart Bashing” has become a favorite past time and will continue. I may also do some reoccurring themes…hell I don’t know. The point is I ain’t quittin’.

More to come as I slowly get reconnected to the world through this here “internet” and put some more coherent thoughts together on some of the atrocities I witnessed in AZ. For now I must begin to write some lesson plans for next semester.
