The rush

Especially in the weeks before the end of a semester!

I teach in a straight block format. 90 minute classes and new students after Christmas. I love it. My classes are smaller and we really get into stuff with the longer class. I anticipate that the kids will not be near as burned out by the time May roles around and this teacher may have a little steam left in him come summer too.
However a full year's worth of stuff in 18 weeks can be a bit rough and this is my first time ever doing this for real, consequently my pacing is a bit off (read as I'm woefully behind) so it's about to get a little heavy in the Smithie's classroom.
