Robert Altman 1925-2006

I don't know what it is about the holidays that seems to bring out the death watcher in me but what the hell it's what I'm reading about.

It was Robert Altman's M_A_S_H that started me watching film. It was not the first film I ever saw, in fact I saw it on video years after it was released, but it was the first film I ever saw that showed me that there might be more to a movie than comic book heroes, space ships or dick jokes. After viewing M_A_S_H I saw art in film or the first time (not that a good dick joke isn't art, it's just not the ONLY art). Altman gave me new eyes and I learned from him. And maybe this is the teacher poking out, but that was a gift. He made films, he did good, R.I.P.
