I woke up this morning with the most recent queue of crap to get done on my mind: Getting to summer school on time, trying to help my younger sister find a place to live after arriving from Tucson, packing for our move, trying to come to an agreement with my wife on colors for the living room, making sure the fence will meet neighborhood association specs, scheduling the "final walk through" before closing, wondering where the hell my wife's aunt is going to sleep among the boxes during her visit this week and making sure those who are left in summer school are actually doing the work they were assigned, you know normal a normal "teacher summer off". Then my phone beeped indicating I had a message. It was one of my supervising teachers from the school where I student taught five years ago. He had an unsolicited job offer...a legit job offer.
BAM!
This offer is from the one place I have wanted to teach since I finished grad-school. Pushing down my, my, giddiness I decided I needed to talk it out with a rational detached brain, “trusted assistant principal” (TAP). TAP gave me some good advice then paused and asked if I knew when the last day to tender my resignation would be and still allow me to give the notice mandated by my contract. After a phone call it turned out that it was today. The rush was on to find the teacher who called me to try and push this thing through. Three hours later I had a new, nay, my dream job and was turning in my resignation to the board office. This is not what I woke up thinking would happen today, but man what a day!
I haven’t been this excited about teaching since the first day of my first year.
Yee. Haw.

Congratulations dude! May you have manageable class sizes, moldable students, and supermodel-esque colleagues...
A big thanks to all for the wishing of wellness...or something more clever lost in the vast reaches of my stressed brain.
