Some Wall-Mart Bashing After A Break

I haven’t Wal-Mart bashed in a while but this is worth coming off the bench for. According to this article from Common Dreams News Center Wal-Mart is the leading opposition to keeping our ports safe. My favorite highlight from the big W:

"Security requirements should not become a barrier to trade."

Again from the article a list of recent offenses:

Opposed the introduction of anti-terrorist "smart containers" and electronic seals for cargo containers coming into U.S. ports. The retail industry called them "feel good (security) measures."
Opposed independent and regular inspections of supply-chain security practices around the world.
Opposed tougher rules requiring Wal-Mart to let Customs know what it's shipping in and where it comes from.
Opposed new container-handling fees to pay for improved port security.

It looks like the big W is not only dangerous to small town businesses but to the safety of the United States as well. It feels good to be off the bench...
All of this comes by way of Quaker Agitator one of my new favorites
